MYAMBUTOL SIDE EFFECTS:
May cause an upset stomach, fatigue,dizziness, or a headache. These effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. You should contact your physician if you experience these symptoms: vision changes,numbness tingling of the hands or feet or a skin rash. MYAMBUTOL can cause your vision to be blurry or make it difficult to see green or red colors. You should call your doctor with any other changes you notice in your vision. An eye test can be done. If you notice any other side effects not listed above, you should call your doctor or pharmacist right away.
HOW TO USE MYAMBUTOL:
MYAMBUTOL: This medication is best taken with food or milk to prevent an upset stomach. Make sure you take this medication as it has been prescribed to you. You should not stop taking MYAMBUTOL unless your doctor has said for you to do so. If you stop taking this medication too soon, the treatment will not be effective.
MYAMBUTOL USES:
Ethambutol is used for treating tuberculosis, It is often combined with other medications.
OTHER USES OF MYAMBUTOL:
MYAMBUTOL can also be used to treat other infections such as "MAC" (Mycobacterium avium complex).
MYAMBUTOL PRECAUTIONS:
You should tell your doctor if you have a history of: kidney disease,gout, or problems with your vision such as cataracts. Before you begin taking MYAMBUTOL, it is important to tell your doctor if you are pregnant or could be pregnant. Ethambutol is excreted into breast milk. There have been not reported problems in nursing infants, but you should still consult your doctor before you breast-feed.
MYAMBUTOL DRUG INTERACTIONS:
You should always write down and give your doctor a list of all prescription and nonprescription drugs you may be taking. Especially if you are taking: antacids. Antacids may cause the absorption of MYAMBUTOL. Therefore, you should space out antacid doses several hours apart from your ethambutol doses. Do not start or stop any medication without your doctor or pharmacists approval.
MYAMBUTOL OVERDOSE:
If you suspect an overdose, you should call your local poison control center or emergency room immediately.
MYAMBUTOL NOTES:
Do not share MYAMBUTOL with any other person.
MISSED MYAMBUTOL DOSE:
If you miss a dose, you should take that dose as soon as you remember. Do not take the missed dose if it is almost time for the next dose. You should skip the missed dose and continue with your usual dosing schedule. You should never "double-up" the dose to catch up.
MYAMBUTOL STORAGE:
You should always store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (between 15 and 30 degrees C) away from moisture and sunlight. Do not store your medication in the bathroom.
